Different asset classes tend to experience good performance at different times. As such, in creating an optimized investment portfolio for our clients, diversification helps offset any poor performance of an asset class with higher returns from another asset class, thus enhancing the consistency of long-term returns.

This course will equip investment advisors and consultants with the necessary skills to develop a comprehensive and diversified investment portfolio by selecting the right combination of unit trust funds for their clients based on individual investors’ risk profiles, market opportunities, and risk management.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Analyse and evaluate existing unit trust funds to construct an optimized portfolio for clients;
Analyse the client’s long-term investment needs and financial objectives to recommend suitable products;
Establish, review, and re-balance a diversified investment portfolio for clients;
Assess objectively the performance of unit trust funds in an existing portfolio; and
Evaluate the impact of changing market and economic conditions on the client’s portfolio and recommend appropriate mitigating actions.

Facilitator

James Chin,

James Chin is a HRD Corp Accredited Trainer who specialises in investment and the global economy with more than 2 decades of experience in the financial industry. He was formerly a Director at CIMB Private Banking and CIMB Principal Asset Management and was previously a licensed Capital Market Services Representative (CMSR) holder for fund management from the Securities Commission of Malaysia. He currently conducts trainings for banks and MNCs on investments, financial planning and leadership.

James obtained his Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration from Wawasan Open University and is also an Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) graduate. He currently lectures part-time at Wawasan Open University on Leadership and Organisational Management courses.

1. How long will each physical program take?

Each physical program is the equivalent of a day’s CE Workshop training for approximately 8 hours with the morning & afternoon coffee break and lunch in between. The duration of the program excluding the break is 6 hours.

2. Can I attend only half the sessions of the training?

You will need to sit in for the session throughout the day unless you have a valid reason or a copy of proof.
