In this workshop, Rafie will walk through with you the Estate Planning instruments in Malaysia, what are the available tools used to advice clients on Estate Planning and Business Succession Planning. Rafie will share with you his working experiences the trustee companies on how he gives professional advice and to assist them to set up their Estate, Trust as well as Business Succession Planning.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Identify understanding of practical issues in inheritance, estate administration and estate planning processes which are generally misunderstood;
Apply the various tools for Estate Planning, especially Wills/ Wasiat and Trust/ Amanah and Life Insurance/ Takaful;
Evaluate the effect of the new Financial Service Act (FSA) 2013 [Act 758] and the Islamic Financial Services Act (“IFSA”) 2013 [Act 759] as well as the Companies Act 2016 [Act 777], on contemporary estate planning.

Rafie bin Omar,

Rafie Bin Omar is an ADVOCATE & SOLICITOR, practicing as a sole proprietor of Messrs. Rafie Omar & Associates in Ampang, Selangor. He is also a SHARIAH REGISTERED FINANCIAL PLANNER and a CERTIFIED EXAMINER under the auspicious of Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC). He is currently serving as a member of one of the Sub-Committees of MFPC and has been a regular speaker for Estate Planning courses for MFPC for more than 10 years. He is also a HRDF CERTIFIED TRAINER for Financial Planning. He is a former Vice President II for the ASSOCIATION OF ISLAMIC FINANCIAL & WEALTH MGT. MALAYSIA (AIWFIM) after serving as its Secretary General for the preceding two (2) years.

Encik Rafie was a former registered member of the INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL WILLWRITERS (IPW), United Kingdom which is based in Birmingham, England. Prior to his involvement in Estate Planning trainings and consultancy, he was serving the nation’s primary trust corporation, namely Amanah Raya Berhad (ARB) for twelve (12) years from 2001 in various capacities i.e. General Manager – Operations; General Manager – Sales and Marketing, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AmanahRaya Legacy Services Sdn Bhd – a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARB involved in Wills, Probate and Testate Administration, Distributions and Management services.

His last position at ARB was as Chief Publicity Officer up to December 2012. His experiences in the subject matter of corporate financial and property were collected previously when he served as the Legal Advisor – Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) in its Business Development & Corporate Affairs Division from 1994 to 2000. He also served DANAHARTA for 18 months in 2000 to 2001, specializing in property matters. Encik Rafie’s vast exposure of more than 30 years began when was first enrolled as Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1989 and registered as Shariah Lawyer at the Selangor Shariah Court in 1992. Since from the beginning of his carreer, he been actively promoting the importance of Estate Planning through various local and international forums and platform

1. How long will each physical program take?

Each physical program is the equivalent of a day’s CE Workshop training for approximately 8 hours with the morning & afternoon coffee break and lunch in between. The duration of the program excluding the break is 6 hours.

2. Can I attend only half the sessions of the training?

You will need to sit in for the session throughout the day unless you have a valid reason or a copy of proof.
