August 27, 2025Celebrating World Financial Planning Day 2025
World Financial Planning Day is celebrated annually on 8 October to raise global awareness about the benefits of financial planning and working with CFP® professionals.
The initiative is organised by the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) and its global network of more than 230,000 CFP professionals worldwide. FPAM, as part of this global network, participates in World Financial Planning Day to promote financial planning standards in Malaysia and highlight how CFP professionals help individuals take control of their financial wellbeing—from saving and investing to retirement planning.
In honour of World Financial Planning Day on 8 October 2025, we asked CFP professionals: "What Does Being a CFP Professional Mean to You?" Here are their inspiring responses.

Candice Tiong, CFP®
“Being a CFP professional is more than holding a designation—it represents a lifelong commitment to integrity, objectivity, and putting clients first. To me, it means being entrusted to walk alongside families in shaping their financial future, ensuring not only wealth accumulation but also security, legacy, and peace of mind. The CFP mark reminds me that every plan must go beyond numbers, to create purpose and confidence that can stand the test of time and life’s uncertainties.”

Cheah Yee Nin, CFP®
“To me, being a CFP professional means being a Chief Flexibility Partner—because life throws curveballs, and a client’s financial plan needs to keep up! The CFP certification also means Continuous Financial Progress, helping clients adapt, grow, and make smart money moves through every life stage. Whether it’s a new job, a surprise baby, or a midlife ‘should I open a café?’ moment—we are here to guide with calm, clarity, and a solid plan. It’s not just about charts and numbers; it’s about real life, real goals, and making sure a client’s finances move forward (with fewer headaches and more laughs).”

Dr Ho Pei Yee, CFP®
“Being a CFP professional means upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, always acting in the best interest of clients. From a client’s perspective, it’s not just about numbers—it’s about having a trusted partner who listens, understands, and offers guidance tailored to their goals. To me, the most meaningful part of being a CFP practitioner is building long-term relationships rooted in trust, transparency, and care. It’s a privilege to walk alongside clients through life’s financial decisions and to be someone they can depend on with confidence and peace of mind.”

Edmond Jairus Edward, CFP®
“As a CFP professional, I see myself as the epitome of authority in financial planning and work ethically for my clients. I have a duty to ensure my clients are well hedged against financial risks and are on track to achieve their investment goals. I also keep myself updated with the latest economic news so that I can add value for my client’s decision making in terms of investment and business expansion.”

Goh Chee Keong, CFP®
"Becoming a CFP professional is truly a great opportunity for me. I am grateful and excited to provide comprehensive, objective, and ethical guidance in helping individuals and families identify and fill financial blind spots at every stage of their lives. This role allows me to empower them to make well-informed decisions, enhance their overall well-being, and ultimately achieve both financial stability and life fulfilment."

Gunaseelan Kannan, CFP®
“Being a CFP professional is more than a title, it’s a promise. It means earning the trust of those who place their dreams in my hands, guiding them with integrity, empathy, and unwavering commitment. It’s about listening to their hopes, easing their fears, and turning aspirations into achievable plans. It’s a calling to serve, to grow alongside my clients, and to help them find confidence in every financial decision. For me, being a CFP practitioner is about making a real difference in client's lives, putting clients’ interests first, guiding them with clarity, and helping them turn uncertainty into confidence.”

Jennifer Chua, CFP®
“Being a CFP professional means more than just meeting technical or regulatory standards—it’s a commitment to serve clients with integrity, wisdom, and genuine care. To me, it’s a calling to steward both knowledge and relationships with excellence. I view financial planning as a deeply personal journey, not just about numbers, but about helping individuals align their resources with what truly matters in life. It’s about building trust, offering hope in uncertain times, and guiding clients with a sense of purpose. At the heart of it, being a CFP professional is about doing what's right—especially when no one is watching.”

Rafiq Hidayat, CFP®
“To me, being a CFP professional is about trust, integrity, and impact. It means having the responsibility to guide clients with objectivity, putting their best interests first in every decision. It’s not just about numbers—it’s about helping people make confident choices at every stage of life, especially during their most vulnerable moments. The CFP mark signifies a commitment to lifelong learning, professional excellence, and ethical standards. It’s a constant reminder that we’re here not just to manage wealth, but to build lives of financial clarity and peace of mind.”

Rozanna Rashid, CFP®
“The CFP mark is valuable as it is recognised globally. It aligns personal wealth and brings financial clarity, peace of mind and empowers confident decisions on major life matters—like home ownership, career changes or retirement. By integrating deep, holistic expertise that impacts multiple areas of a person’s life, the CFP discipline helps avoid costly mistakes, ensures a dignified retirement and makes finance accessible to everyday Malaysians. It’s not just about money—it’s about purpose, legacy, and changing lives with integrity. Being a CFP professional helps me achieve this by helping one individual and family one at a time.”

Sam Kong, CFP®
“For me, being a CFP professional is a journey of transformation—from engineer to insurance agent to licensed financial planner. It means being a trusted guide who stays engaged, understands what matters most, and provides the right solutions and advice. I believe in hand-holding clients through every stage of their financial life, giving them clarity, confidence, and real progress towards their goals.”

Serena Shukor, CFP®
"Being a CFP professional means being a trusted partner in someone’s life journey. When clients share their dreams, worries, and challenges, I don’t just see numbers. I see real lives, families, and futures. My role is to listen with empathy, guide with honesty, and give them the confidence that they are never alone. To me, it’s more than a career—it’s a trust, a calling, and a way to make a meaningful and lasting difference."

Teoh Ai Ling, CFP®
“CFP professionals make people’s life meaningful and live with peace of mind financially!"

Yuvarajan Periyan, CFP®
"Being a CFP professional means having the ability to lead the financial planning industry—an industry which is more than just managing money but one built on empathy, purpose and understanding people.
